History | Genuine Lotus (LVU 333W). Many years of rallying history going by the scrutineering stickers on the roll cage, including the Circuit of Ireland in 1994. I acquired the car in 1999. |
Engine | 2.2 Lotus unit, L1 cams, 45 Dellortos, Cosworth pistons, standard manifolds. Currently in a state of rebuild as one of the con rods decided to leave home through the block. Considering rebuilding the Lotus unit or installing a 16v Vauxhall unit. If anyone has any advice on this subject (or how to install a 16v in a Sunbeam) please email me. |
Transmition | Standard ZF 5 speed (dogleg 1st causes driver no end of trouble), paddle clutch, 4HA axle with ZF 4.6 plate diff. |
Brakes | Tarmac Alcon alloy 4 pots front with 10.25" vented discs and alloy bells. AP alloy 2 pots rear with 10.25 vented discs and alloy bells, Mintex M1144 front and rear. Hydraulic handbrake, dash adjustable pedal box. |
Suspension | Bilstein. Soft setup for gravel/broken tarmac, no rear anti-roll bar, negative camber crossmember, strengthened rear arms, Gp.4 wheel studs. |
Shell | Cosmetically challenged! Full cage with door bars and diagonal, front and rear strut braces, rear turrets, perspex all round including hatch, all steel panels, Brantz tripmeter, ATL fuel tank in alloy container, Corbeau seats and six point harnesses. The shell is getting scruffy due to the frequency it visits the scenery. |
Development work | Needs an engine rebuild first! Should really look into making it lighter (fibreglass), a 5 speed gearbox with direct top and a conventional H pattern would be worth a few seconds. |
